How To Play Asteroids In Pro Tools

Even to the most experienced users, Pro Tools still has some hidden extras that you might not be aware of. One of these hidden extras is a playable version of the much-loved Atari arcade game Asteroids. In this article, we will show you how to access and play Asteroids in your pro tools session. This Easter egg is only accessible in Pro Tools ultimate, as it requires the surround panner window.  

Step 1

Open Pro Tools and create a multi-channel bus of one kind or another. This can be 5.1 or 7.1.

Step 2

Create a new track and route it to the multi-channel bus you set up in step 1.

Step 3

Open the comments box of the track. This can be done within either the mix window or the edit window.

Step 4

In the comments box, type Pro Tools backward, all as one word - slootorp. Hit enter.

Step 5

Open up the panner window and you will have accessed the game.

Step 6

Have fun playing asteroids! The controls are L/R Arrows - Rotate, X - Shoot, Z - Thrust, S - Smart Bomb.
